Listening to Olami generally brings that influx of different sensations as her hearty and passionate vocals find their way into your ears.

Olupayimo Olapeju Olamide professionally known as Olami is a soul/R&B artiste and songwriter is well as an undergraduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Oyo State. Born into a family where music was a “thing” and being inspired by “the way I see life and the few things I’ve seen in life”- she tells me in a recent interview with her, it is evident that she understands and appreciates the theory behind making music.

Some days ago, she released her debut project in form of an EP titled “Outside” which made her nervous as she hoped that the “right audience” gives credence to the body of work. Now if you are a fan of soul music, you’ll definitely accept it.

Soul music always convey a smooth sound accompanied by deep meaningful lyrics to help express the deepest of human emotions, Olami did that exactly. She revealed that the body of work was “inspired by deep reflections” and they encompass the emotions she was currently feeling.

The first song “Little Red” gives the assurance that it is known that you are fighting through life but never forget that there’s no one like you and you’ll definitely overcome no matter what. “Air” featuring Bizzonthetrack which is the second song on the EP had a very factual intro and accentuates the determination to survive amidst fighting your demons. “Finishing Line” is a song that helps you flex your wins and victory. “I’ve become a burning flame, I’m in charge, this is my game” – a line from the song emphasizes strength and confidence. “Zion” recognizes God as a supreme being, acknowledges fear and asks for guidance. “Freedom” which had Phyl and Yhemhi reminisces on the struggles of life and the request to be set free. It also shows “the different perspective on what freedom means to each of the artistes featured”.

This project emits serenity, courage, victory and also has a strong sense of rhythm with reflective, deep lyrics created to inspire and motivate as you go through life.
